The National Wine Centre of Australia (NWC) is one of Adelaide’s leading hospitality and event venues situated in the vibrant East End of the CBD, in close proximity to the emerging Lot Fourteen precinct and new hotels in the area.
Our unique architectural building is surrounded by the green space of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and parklands and plays host to over 800 events per year attracting international, national and local visitors. Events include conferences, weddings, banquets, meetings and seminars.
The NWC is a showcase and focal point for Australia’s wine industry and as such, it has become a beloved landmark for food and wine lovers across the country who have engaged in the range of wine tourism and event experiences on offer.
A rare career opportunity exists for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the team in this award-winning venue as a Sales & Event Planning Executive. This is a pivotal role within the organisation as the candidate would be involved in several facets of the organisation. This role is a 1.0 FTE fixed-term maternity cover position until 31st October 2026, however there may be opportunity for conversion to permanent employment.
Reporting to the Sales & Event Planning Manager, this role will work closely with sales, kitchen, floor operations and guest services to deliver exceptional events and maximise event revenue across all market segments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning conferences and high-end events, growing and retaining existing client accounts and will ensure the financial growth of the business. The key responsibilities of the position include:
- Respond to enquiries and prepare quotations within appropriate time parameters
- Meet with clients and conduct familiarisations and site inspections
- Liaise with the client and determine event details to create and deliver successful events
- Yield manage bookings to maximise event revenues
- Ensure strong internal communication with colleagues and work as part of a team to collectively achieve targets.
- Consult with internal stakeholders and departments on complex solutions for special events to ensure successful outcomes
- Work with Bridal Couples, Corporate Clients or Professional Conference Organisers to plan and finalise all event details from conception to execution
- Attend weekly Operations meeting to ensure a clear handover of all client events
- Develop mutual trust and confidence with clients through the demonstration of personal and professional integrity
This exciting role within a great team environment will suit an appropriately experienced Sales & Event Planner with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Applicants should also possess highly developed skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, with previous experience in the use of Delphi and Salesforce advantageous.
