Events Team Leader

The National Wine Centre has a casual Events Team Leader position currently available for motivated people that want to work in a premier establishment. This position reports to the Food & Beverage Services Manager and will assist in supporting the day to day operations of the Events department to produce world class functions and catering to our clientele.
The National Wine Centre (NWC) is one of Adelaide’s leading hospitality venues situated in the vibrant East End of the CBD, in close proximity to the emerging Lot Fourteen precinct.
Our unique architectural building is surrounded by the green space of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and parklands, and plays host to over 800 events per year attracting international, national and local visitors. Events include conferences, weddings, banquets, meetings and seminars.
The responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Provide leadership to motivate and engage the Events team to deliver five-star service;
- Liaise with the Kitchen and EventPlanning teams to ensure client expectations are exceeded whilst managing staff
- Liaise with clients to ensure all requests have been met
- Be highly visible on the event floor to oversee/supervise major events/functions (this is a hands-on operational role)
- Delegate duties to team members as required
- Assist in monitoring the food and beverage stock, controlling costs and wages through effective staffing levels
To be considered for the role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a similar role (ideally in a hotel, restaurant or busy function centre)
- Previous barista experience (desirable)
- Bachelor’s degree/equivalent in Hotel Management and/or Business Administration
- Minimum 2-3 years Food & Beverage/Banquets experience
- Ability to lead, motivate & develop a team
- Strong communication skills
- Team player, self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure
- Passion for delivering results & exceptional guest experiences
- A current RSA certificate validin South Australia (essential) and First Aid certification
