Meet the Producers:
Forage Supply Co.
Barossa Valley, SA
Forage Supply Co was born from a long time friendship and a shared dream to create a wine label that gives back. Growing up in the Barossa, founders Scotty and Justin did what many Vallians only talk about built a brand as much for the people as it is for the palate. Their yin and yang dynamic powers Forage: Scotty, the well travelled extrovert and storyteller, brings charm and hustle, while Justin is the grounded creative, quietly shaping the vision behind the scenes. Together, they've backed projects that support community, help those doing it tough, and tread lightly on the planet. The result? A label rooted in purpose, producing fresh, vibrant wines with big impact and a light footprint all while keeping their glasses (and humour) full.
Geyer Wine Co
Barossa Valley, SA
Geyer Wine Co is a small, independent producer based in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. We work with regenerative and organically farmed vineyards, focusing on soil health, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability. We aim for a modern, regenerative-leaning reinterpretation of Barossa heritage: rescuing old sites, celebrating diverse varieties and producing wines that read as honest, low-intervention snapshots of place and vintage. We are for drinkers who want authenticity, texture and drinkability without heavy cellar manipulation, who want quality of product without a compromising environmental footprint. Our wines are approachable yet complex, focussed on clarity and energy rather than oak and alcohol, equally suited to the dining table or fine dining. All our wines are fermented using native yeasts, with no additions apart from small amounts of sulphur. The result is elegant, expressive wines that reflect both place and season — minimal interference, maximum character. We explore multi region blends of both white and red as well as drill down into single site expression of variety and terroir.
Mitchell Wines
Clare Valley, SA
Mitchell Wines has been guided by three generations of passionate winemakers and grape growers. From Peter McNicol Mitchell’s modest beginnings, to Andrew and Jane’s passion for winemaking that they now share with the next generation of Mitchell Wines, Hilary, Angus and Edwina. While the family continues to reflect and learn from the experience and knowledge of Peter McNicol Mitchell, they place great importance on innovating into the future of winemaking and continually improving their wines and methods. Implementing sustainable practices at every opportunity, dry-grown vineyards have ensured responsible water conservation, while eliminating the use of artificial herbicides and pesticides has encouraged biodiversity to promotes intense flavours and characteristics in the grapes. The rich soils and vineyards full of life harvest rich flavours and a vibrant energy that is present throughout the entire Mitchell Wines portfolio.
Moorak Wines
McLaren Vale, SA
From scratch; a literal few tonnes of grapes in 2018, Jordan Hein created Moorak — named as an ode to his birthplace, the small town of Moorak, South Australia. A first-generation winemaker from self- study, experimentation and learning from experience, Jordan developed the label to encompass his stylistic approach to traditional and left-field winemaking techniques. Experimenting and researching more varieties and regions in an ever- developing portfolio of unique and considered wines. These are important elements of Jordan and Moorak’s ideology towards winemaking, while having a low impact to the land itself. Each vintage, Moorak strives for partnerships with sustainable and organic growers, each with a progressive focus on regenerative viticulture. The underlying aim is to present fruit from those with knowledge, a deep understanding of the vines and vehement respect for the land from where it grows. A negotiate style, purchasing grapes from the aforementioned growers, has risen to unique adaptability — allowing Jordan to source, produce and present varieties with more creativity. Not limited by single vineyards, Moorak continues to offer a dynamic range of multi-regional wines produced solely in the one facility. Located in McLaren Vale, South Australia, the winery is a minimal carbon-impact facility, completely off-grid, using Solar power, rainwater and bore water throughout production.
Thick as Thieves Wines
Yarra Valley, VIC
In 2009 Syd Bradford started Thick as Thieves Wines in the Yarra Valley as a virtual operation - buying in grapes and renting facilities. After years of hard yakka, he has now established a family wine business and vineyard with a 5-Star Halliday rating. . . one happy little vegemite! Purchasing the Cypress Ridge vineyard in the Yarra Valley in 2012 was the game changer for Thick as Thieves… 28 year old pinot noir vines that are in a happy spot and produce Syd's flagship pinot wines. The experimental beginnings of 'The Aloof Alpaca' Arneis are still going strong and give inspiration to new alternative varieties & styles moving forward.
White Gate Wine Co.
Barossa Valley, SA
White Gate Wine Co represents a bold new voice in the Barossa Valley. A region with strong New World tradition but brimming with possibility and diversity. Founded in 2018 by Chad Connolly, White Gate strives to express Barossa terroir in a lighter, more elegant, European influenced, style. White Gate’s winemaking style was inspired by the ethos of producers from French and Italian winemaking regions, and through the utilisation of some of their winemaking techniques, crafts wines that draw comparisons to international wines. Utilising varying levels of whole bunch and whole berry, in accordance with earlier picks to achieve expressions of the Barossa Valley not clouded by oak nor high alcohol.
White Gate has a focus on sustainable varietals such as Nero d'Avola, Negroamaro and Fiano which thrive in the Valley's warm climate, Old Vine Grenache parcels, and great plantings of the Barossa staples. Working with growers who align with the brand's values and leasing Old Vine sites the brand has a strong alignment with vineyards that have emphasis and focus on soil health.
